Stories of Strength & Resilience: A New Way to Experience History

One of the things I love about living in Elizabethtown is that there’s always something new to learn about our past. And let me tell you, the Kentucky Black Trailblazers is something else entirely. This isn’t your average history tour—it’s an experience that brings the stories of influential Black Kentuckians to life using cutting-edge augmented reality technology. That’s right, friends—history is jumping off the pages and into the streets!

Experiences in Elizabethtown - Hardin County 

I’m a big fan of our little corner of Kentucky, and I’m thrilled to tell you that Elizabethtown/Hardin County are featured on this incredible trail.

Our first stop is in downtown Elizabethtown - at the First Black Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. This church has been a cornerstone of the community, and its story is one of resilience and faith. Next on your journey is General Braddock a true leader and a key figure in our local history. Through the augmented reality experience, you’ll walk in his footsteps and see the world as he saw it—a world full of challenges and triumphs.

The final stop in Hardin County is located at the General George Patton Museum there you will learn about the beloved Margaret “Ma” Collier, whose contributions to Fort Knox are unforgettable. Her story is one of compassion, hard work, and dedication.
