As the holiday season creeps closer, one of my favorite Elizabethtown traditions is just around the corner: the annual Christmas Light Up Etown Parade and Tree Lighting! I can already feel the excitement buzzing in the air as our community gears up for this festive event. Mark your calendars, friends, because on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 7PM the streets of Elizabethtown will light up with holiday cheer, and you won't want to miss it.
What to expect at Light Up Etown
Now, if you’ve never been to Light Up Etown, let me give you a little glimpse of what you're in for. This parade is one of those experiences that just makes you fall in love with Elizabethtown even more. We’re talking dazzling lights, holiday music, and a lineup of festive floats that’ll make you feel like a kid again. The parade will kick off at 7 pm, and you can catch all the magic as it travels southbound on West Dixie Avenue, starting from Saint John Road and making its way to the Downtown Square.
Imagine this: twinkling lights as far as the eye can see, the soft glow of Christmas decorations, and the warm smiles of friends and neighbors who’ve gathered to celebrate. It’s a time when the entire town comes together, and there’s just something so special about seeing familiar faces all bundled up, sipping hot cocoa, and cheering on the parade floats. And let me tell you, our Downtown Square knows how to put on a show.
Why Light Up Etown Is So Special
This isn’t just a parade—it’s a tradition that makes our town feel like one big family. I love watching the kids' eyes light up as Santa rolls through on his float, waving and bringing that holiday spirit. And let’s not forget the magic of the tree lighting! At the end of the parade, right in the heart of Downtown, we’ll all gather around as the giant Christmas tree bursts into light, illuminating our town square and filling the air with that cozy holiday glow.
One of my favorite parts about Light Up Etown is how it brings out the creativity in our community. Each float is decorated with so much love and attention to detail that you can’t help but marvel at them. And don't worry about staying warm—our local vendors usually have plenty of treats and hot drinks to keep you toasty as you watch the festivities.
How To Make The Most Of Your Night
Here’s a little tip from me: if you want the best view, try to find a spot along the parade route a little early. The crowds multiply, and you’ll want a good vantage point for all the action. Another thing I love to do is stop by one of our local cafes for a warm drink before the parade starts. It’s a great way to support our local businesses and stay cozy while you wait.
And if you’re like me and love to take pictures, don’t forget to charge up that phone or bring a camera. With all those twinkling lights and festive decorations, there are plenty of photo ops to capture some holiday memories. I’ve got a few favorite photo spots along West Dixie Avenue, but I’ll keep those a secret—you’ll have to find your particular spot!
A Holiday Tradition For Everyone
Light Up Etown is one of those events that just feels like home. It doesn’t matter if you’ve lived in Elizabethtown or are new; there’s a place for everyone in the crowd. Bring the entire family and some friends, or just bring yourself and soak in the holiday spirit. There’s nothing quite like standing together under the lights, sharing smiles, and feeling that sense of togetherness that only Elizabethtown can bring.
The holidays are a time for making memories, and I can’t think of a better place to do that than right here at Light Up Etown. So dig out those festive scarves, grab your mittens, and get ready to kick off the season with us!
